This course is ideal for people who require an annual update and have already gained experience and understanding of Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion. 

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding the importance and key principles of diversity, equality and social inclusion
  • Be able to work and support people in an inclusive way
  • Know how to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality and social inclusion

Learning Outcomes and Assessments

At the end of the session attendees will be familiar with:


  • Definitions of the terms equality, diversity and social inclusions
  • The benefits and key concepts of equality and diversity principles
  • The current legislative frameworks around equality, diversity and social inclusion legislation
  • Positive action and why it is an important recruitment tool for employers
  • The responsibilities regarding equality, diversity and social inclusion
  • Differentiate between an individual’s rights and responsibilities in relation to equality and diversity
  • Values and beliefs relating to human diversity
  • Prejudice and stereotyping resulting negative effects and discrimination
  • The factors upon which discrimination can be based
  • Differentiate the types of discrimination
  • Definitions and examples of harassment and victimisation
  • Acts of law that serve to maintain equality and ensure the acceptability of human diversity
  • Human rights depicted in the 1998 Human Rights Act.
