This course is ideal for people who require an annual update and have already gained experience and understanding of Safeguarding Children (Child Protection).
Learning Objectives
- To provide attendees with the knowledge, behaviours and skills to support and safeguard individuals, themselves and the organisation from potential abuse, neglect and allegations.
- To define what is meant by Safeguarding Children and Child Protection
- To identify the principles of Child Protection and Safeguarding
- To explore the Safeguarding processes and provide support for individuals
- To define types and signs of 'Abuse'
- To define what is meant by the term 'Neglect'
- To explore the Safeguarding procedures when reporting allegations of abuse.
Learning Outcomes and Assessments
At the end of the session attendees will be familiar with:
- Definition of a child and young person
- Understanding what is abuse
- Recognising acts, signs and symptoms of abuse
- Types of abuse (neglect, sexual, physical, emotional and psychological)
- How to safeguard individuals from abuse
- What to do should you have a concern
- How to respond to an individual should they disclose a concern
