This course is ideal for people who require an annual update and have already gained experience and understanding of Safeguarding Children (Child Protection). 

• To provide attendees with the knowledge, behaviours and skills to support and safeguard individuals, themselves and the organisation from potential abuse, neglect and allegations.
• To define what is meant by Safeguarding Children and Child Protection
• To identify the principles of Child Protection and Safeguarding 
• To explore the Safeguarding processes and provide support for individuals 
• To define types and signs of 'Abuse'
• To define what is meant by the term 'Neglect'
• To explore the Safeguarding procedures when reporting allegations of abuse.

At the end of the session attendees will be familiar with:

• Definition of a child and young person
• Understanding what is abuse
• Recognising acts, signs and symptoms of abuse
• Types of abuse (neglect, sexual, physical, emotional and psychological)
• How to safeguard individuals from abuse
• What to do should you have a concern
• How to respond to an individual should they disclose a concern
